Highlights of the Meeting: Changes to the calendar and new events were discussed. The results of our activities over the last month were reviewed. The schedule of activities for the remainder of the year were reviewed. Planned fund raising events were discussed.
The meeting was called to order at 7:31 PM at the George Brent Council of the Knights of Columbus, 9290 Stonewall Road in Manassas by President Pat Sullivan.
Recitation of the opening prayer & Pledge of Allegiance: In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen. And in the name of St. Patrick, the Glorious Apostle of Ireland, I open this meeting and beseech our Heavenly Father to watch over us and protect us. May He grant us that peace and harmony will always prevail among us, and that Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity will inspire all our deliberations, through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Minutes from previous meeting, Mike Eggleston: The 8 August Minutes were distributed to all members and were posted to the Division website on 2 September. No changes were proposed. A motion to approve the minutes was made, seconded and the members voted to approve the Minutes as posted on the Division website.
President’s Report: Pat Sullivan presented his President’s Report that summarized progress and presented the status of Paul Huber’s health
Propositions for Membership, Pete Hawkins: One new candidate, Earl Lord, was identified.
Balloting for the candidate, Earl Lord was accomplished, he was accepted and the initiation pledge was administered.
Communications & Correspondence, Mike Eggleston:
A thank you letter from ABLE Forces was received for our donation to the Adopt a Warrior Family for Christmas program.
Father Kelley Division Cookbook Fundraiser, Mike Eggleston provided his Status report for the Cookbook. He explained that the deadline for submission of recipes to him is 30 September and our goal is to have copies of the cookbook available before Thanksgiving.
Calendar Events/Special Reports, Pete Hawkins: Pete distributed the Calendar of Events and discussed upcoming events.
– 17 September is Half-way to St. Patrick’s Day at Old Town Sports Bar, 7 PM. This is a fund raiser and we’ll be selling tickets for the Trip to Ireland.
– Irish Road Bowling in Shepherdstown, WV is on 18 September. Email Greg Rebbert if you have questions.
– The Freedom Museum Sock Hop is on Saturday, 24 September, 6-10 PM at Bishop Russell Hall, 9290 Stonewall Road. Manassas. Purchase tickets by calling 703-393-0660.
– 1 October is Manassas Fall Jubilee. This is a fund raiser. We need people to sell tickets, 10 AM to 5 PM for the Trip to Ireland and for set-up and clean up afterwards.
– 2 October is the Down’s Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia Buddy Walk at Signal Hill Park. We need five volunteers for setup of the Buddy Walk (7-9 AM) and five people to help run it (It can be the same five people that set-up). This is a good cause that helps our people.
– The Hunger Project will start collecting food in late October.
– 16 October is the Medical Missionaries 25th Anniversary Celebration at Doukenie Winery.
– 5 November is the Veteran’s Day Parade. This is an important event. It honors Veteran’s service including many of our own people. We will participate. No fee is required.
– 6 November is the Deceased Members Mass. We should have breakfast after the Mass. Greg Gibbons will take action on this.
– The Brats & Beer Fund Raiser planned for October has been moved to February, 2023. Brian Tumulty will get an exact date and pass it to Pat Sullivan.

Catholic Action, Father Daniel Reuwer: No Report.
Charities and Missions, Greg Rebbert: No Report. We’ll make decisions in October on the Charities that we will support. If you have a specific charity to recommend, let Greg know.
Freedom for all Ireland, Dominic Preston: No Report.
Report on the Standing Committee/Grievance, Doug Morrison: No Report.
Historian, Mike Eggleston: Mike provided a report on John Kelly.
Hunger Project, Bart Emanuel: As indicated earlier, Bart is planning food drives for stores such as Giant and Food Lion.
Immigration, Rick Ring: Rich provided his Immigration Report.
Project St. Patrick, Rich Aleksy: Report Suspended.
Publicity/Webmaster, Brian Tumulty: Report Suspended.
Report on the Sick/Visitation, Bill Yochem: Report Suspended.
Strategic Planner, Mike Riley: Mike provided his Strategic Plan that identifies key efforts during Q1, 2023.
Veteran’s Affairs, Doug Morrison: Doug was excused from this meeting but his Veteran’s Report is posted on our website.

Report of the Treasurer, Rick Ring: Rick provided his Report of the Treasurer.
Unfinished business:
– The President selected the Division Nominating Committee for our 2023 slate of Officers. These are: Past Division President: JP McCusker who is also the chair of the committee; Past Division President: John Masarick, Past County and Division President: Vince Fitzpatrick. The Nominating Committee will interview division members for all positions who wish to be prospective division officers. At the November meeting, the committee will report their recommendation of officers. Nominations may be made from the floor if the nominee has agreed to serve. The slate of officers and any nominations received from the floor shall be included in the meeting and a notice will be sent out in December.
– We had an excellent showing at Our Lady of Knock Mass. Greg Gibbons and his wife did an outstanding job in accomplishing organization and support for the corporate communion and the breakfast that followed. Our thanks to the Gibbons family for their splendid effort.
New Business:
– Funding for the Cookbook: Rick Ring explained that when the budget was
built a $3,000 line item was included for fund raisers. The fund raisers were to be determined. One of these was the golf tournament. The cookbook fund raiser could also use the funds to buy copies of the cookbook. These copies would be sold at a much higher price ($15, each) to provide funds for our charities. The division voted to approve funding of $1,200 to purchase 200 copies of the cookbook.
– Funding is also needed for our base drum harness and strikers. Up to $200 was approved for these.
Good and Welfare of the Order:
– Please keep Paul Huber in your prayers.
– Chris Sozio asked that we keep his father in our prayers. He is getting better each month. Chris also asked for prayers for himself: he has a foot injury.
Adjournment: The president made a motion to adjourn that was seconded and approved by vote of those present.
