AOH Veterans Report (November 2023) – Doug Morrison

National:

  • Patrick Flaherty as taken over temporarily the National Board Veterans Affairs Committee Chair. He is holding quarterly calls with members of the AOH Veterans community / Chairs. He has discussed communications with the VA Committee and the vacant slots on the committee. He will discuss with the National President how to fill those slots.
  • Pat is also looking for a “national level” project in which the AOH as a whole can participate.

State: NSTR I have been in contact with Brendan Cooney, State Board Veterans Chair, but for some reason I am not getting his emails. Worthy President thank you for passing information along. Specifically, he is asking for Veterans information from each Division. Attached was / is his example spreadsheet.

TAPS:  As previously reported the check to TAPS was presented and photos provided. Were these passed to the AOH Digest? Sorry but I missed the last couple of meetings.

Thoughts on Veterans Day just past and Veterans of our Division:

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave: Behind a veteran are millions of others, most of them like my WWII veteran Dad, who are gone to the grave, whose deeds and sacrifices helped win and preserve our freedom. Just more than 120,000 WWII veterans are still alive. Only 6% of the US population has served in the military.

Photo of the presentation of our check to Founder & President of TAPS Bonnie Carroll is provided, below.
